Our first patient of Gastric Balloon who successfully achieved results.
Mrs Mamta More, also had comorbidities like diabetes, blood hypertension, heavy menstruation.
Gastric balloon is a non-surgical weight-loss procedure which involves the insertion of a specialized balloon inside the stomach for a period of 6 months to occupy space and limit the food carrying capacity of the stomach. This in turn reduces appetite and thereby helps in achieving weight loss.
A decision to insert a gastric balloon was taken as she was unable to lose weight inspite of many attempts.
Her case was monitored by a multidisciplinary team of Gastroenterologist, Registered Dietitian, Gynecologist and Physician.
A regular follow up of the patient by the Gastroenterologist, Gynecologist and Dietician was done. Regular planning and daily monitoring of a Nutritionally balanced disease specific diet considering the macro and micronutrients was taken care of by a Registered Dietitian. Also counseling for lifestyle and behavior modification was done by the Dietitian.
All these measures helped her achieve results and stay active.
At the end of 6 months she achieved a weight loss of 12% of her pre - gastric balloon weight.
All her blood parameters have improved significantly and her diabetes, hypertension are now under control.
